Our Story:

Meluzina started in 2011 when our first two Siberians Maple and Chase joined the family. It wasn’t long before we expanded, adding Sadie. We had fun with the trio, running on a scooter and participating in dry land racing. Ringo and Emmylou came a few years after, once we decided the sport of showing dogs in conformation was something we wanted to do. We owe many thanks to Sharon Osharow at Kristari Siberians, who has helped to make our dream a reality.

The idea of breeding dogs came along about the same time. Our philosophy on breeding is only breed the dogs when we have a pair that is perfect in every way. Both dogs have to complete their AKC championship, pass through health screenings, and have favorable personalities. Furthermore, we will only breed dogs if we are looking to keep their offspring. In 2021 we bred our first litter with Ringo and Emmylou. The experience was amazing, it was such a joy bringing puppies into the world! Three of the six pups stayed with us, substantially adding to our pack. We believe that with every life created there comes a great responsibility; and it is for the entire life of the puppies. The other three we carefully placed in very nice homes.

Currently Meluzina is the home of seven Siberian Huskies. We had to say goodbye to Sadie in August 2022. The upkeep of our dogs and kennel requires teamwork for the whole family. It is a joy ride we all love and will forever treasure.

Dogs have always been a part of my life. As far in my childhood, as I can remember, I have longed for the company of a four legged friend. The first dog in my life was a mutt I brought home and hid away from my parents. I became a part of a local kennel club and trained my little dog called Ben alongside German shepherds and Dobermans in extensive police training that is referred today to as Schutzhund. Later I got my own German Shephard – Brit. I became so involved and emersed in the training, it became all that made sense in my life to me at the time. I competed on multiple levels with Brit and became one of the youngest participants. Raising dogs was my outlet from the daily struggles as a child. It enabled me to focus on something I created entirely on my own, it was like my connection with myself.

When my son Mike expressed a desire to have a dog, an old spark lighted up my soul. My childhood dream resurfaced; I have once again rediscovered the bond with dogs. Walks through nature, runs in harness, one on one interactions in crowds in competitions, and private cuddles on the couch – these are priceless moments filled with love and mutual understanding. Every new puppy teaches me a little bit more about dogs, as well as more about myself. I treasure every second of time a get to have with my dogs.
